Today we spoke to Sally Carter, Senior Technical Writer at LUMEDX, about the LUMEDX CVIS e-learning initiative. 

Hi Sally! How are you involved with e-learning for LUMEDX clients?

I’m on the Product Documentation team at LUMEDX and wear two hats – Senior Technical Writer and Instructional Designer. I am primarily responsible for organizing the e-learning initiative at LUMEDX and created the set of materials now available on www.lumedx.com. My Documentation colleagues and I work together with the training group and other experts to create content that will provide value to our clients.

What e-learning opportunities does LUMEDX offer?

Currently we offer registry training for ACC, STS, ACC to STS cross-population, and registry updates. We also offer training on STEMI data entry, which was created in response to a customer request.

In early 2014, we are planning to release e-learning on interfaces, and training on the Cath Report Editor and Echo Report Editor. This library of materials will continue to expand in the future, so stay tuned!

How can clients use LUMEDX e-learning at their own facilities?

LUMEDX e-learning is intended to supplement our instructor-led training. It provides 24 x 7 training and support on common topics such as how to do a registry validation and harvest. If you have new employees who are unfamiliar with the harvest process, or employees who need a refresher at harvest time, LUMEDX e-learning provides immediate training and assistance. The great thing about this is that these materials can be reviewed anytime and as often as you like!

The materials are designed for all levels of users and are broken down into several easy-to-use components. Lessons and demos show users how to perform tasks step-by-step, and the PDF Quick Guides remind users of key steps in a process to follow up on other training and e-learning materials. We also offer “Try Its” that allow users to actually complete a software task. Finally, each topic has a self-quiz at the end so that users can check their own learning progress.

How can clients sign up for e-learning?

To view LUMEDX e-learning you must have an account on www.lumedx.com and be registered for e-learning. Follow the steps below to sign up for a new account and activate the account for e-learning.

  1. Go to www.lumedx.com.
  2. Click the Register link in the upper right corner.
  3. Enter the information in all fields on the page, including User ID (you can choose your own), Email, Password, Confirm Password, Time Zone, First Name, and Last Name.
  4. In the Registration Code box, enter the special registration code. If you don’t have this code, contact your LUMEDX Client Manager.
  5. Change the Newsletter Subscriptions selections (optional).
  6. Type the code displayed on the screen in the Enter the code shown box.
  7. Click Create Account.

(If you already have a lumedx.com account, sign into your account and enter the registration code in your Profile. Contact your LUMEDX Client Manager if you don’t have this code.)

After registration your lumedx.com account will be active immediately, but please allow up to 6 hours for us to activate e-learning on your account. (You will not receive a confirmation email after you create your lumedx.com account or when e-learning is active.) After e-learning has been activated, log on to lumedx.com and select E-Learning from the Support tab to view the course offerings.
